Special Episode: Sinfonia da Camera

On this week's Prairie Performances, we welcome Music Director and Conductor of the Sinfonia da Camera, Ian Hobson to the studio, along with Executive Director Elizabeth Churchya, to discuss the history of the ensemble, its current season, and what to look forward to in their upcoming Rach 3 concert. 

Music for this episode, all of which is conducted by Ian Hobson, includes the first movement of Samuel Barber’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 14, featuring soloist Andrés Cárdenes along with the Sinfonia Varsovia and the Sinfonia da Camera; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem in D minor, K. 626 ("Introit" and selections from “Sequence”) performed by the Sinfonia da Camera, University of Illinois Chamber Singers, and University of Illinois Oratorio Society; and the first movement of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Concerto no. 3 in D minor, Op. 30, featuring soloist Ian Hobson along with the Sinfonia Varsovia.
