Dozens of community members of all faiths filled the Central Illinois Mosque and Islamic Center in Urbana Wednesday evening to commemorate the lives of those killed in the attack in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Congressman Rodney Davis’ visit Wednesday to an Urbana mosque was meant to strengthen ties with the local Muslim community--but the event turned into a debate over why he hasn’t been more involved in his district. 

Muslims across the country on Monday celebrate the holiday of Eid Al-Adha. The day marks the end of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, the holiest site in Islam. The date came as a relief to many American Muslims. This year, Eid almost fell on Sept. 11th, a date that weighs heavily on many Muslims.
