A federal judge on Friday ordered the U.S. government to identify thousands more migrant families separated at the border before the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy was announced in 2018.

A new television campaign ad accuses Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner, a Republican seeking another term in November, of profiting off President Donald Trump's since abandoned "zero tolerance" border policy of separating immigrant children from their families.

U.S. Democratic Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois is calling on the Trump administration to clarify statements made in June about child separations at the border.

Amid sweltering heat with index values of well over 100 degrees, hundreds of demonstrators turned out to protest the separation of children and parents at the U.S-Mexico border. The demonstration was one of more than 700 planned across the country on Saturday.
