Illinois is now the third state to require graduating high school seniors fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, otherwise known as the FAFSA form.

Parents of college students and high school seniors headed that way should be busy filling out financial aid paperwork — if they haven’t already.

Saturday is the first day that prospective college students and their families can begin filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA for short.  That’s much earlier than in previous years, and that’s not the only change in the FAFSA process in 2016.

A University of Michigan Economist is advocating for the elimination of the complicated Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
