Over the past month, three universities across Illinois have witnessed labor disputes that have resulted in strikes by their unionized members. The 21st was joined by two journalists that have been following the strikes.

Passing a state budget is arguably the most important thing the Illinois General Assembly does every year — or at least should do every year.

The downgrades from Moody's Investors Services did not downgrade the University of Illinois or Illinois State University, but like the other schools, they were given "negative" outlooks.  Illinois is about to enter its fifth month with no state budget.

Credit rating agency also downgrades Northeastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University and Governors State University
