Mahler's "1st Symphony was composed between late 1887 and early 1888, had it's premiere in Budapest, was not well received, prompting revisions that followed, with the symphony reaching it's 'final form' by 1896.

While not as popular as the other Mahler symphonies, the 7th is asonic journey equal to the others.

In Mahler's Ninth Symphony there is a section in the first movement that Alban Berg asserted was a "vision of the hereafter."
