Murky Water, Boil Order Sparks Confusion For Champaign Residents

A water treatment plant has operated on North Lincoln Avenue in Urbana since the 1880’s --- but no longer. Illinois-American Water took the plant offline in June. And Monday is the day they plan to start dismantling it.
A spokeperson for the water company says the request would amount to an increase of $7.50 on a typical bill. But because of the Illinois Commerce Commission's 11 month review process, it likely wouldn't be approved until January 2017.
