Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has filed a lawsuit against Peoples Gas over a natural gas leak north of Mahomet in Champaign County.

Urbana attorney Erika Harold is running for Illinois Attorney General. Harold announced this morning that she will seek the Republican nomination to run against the four-term incumbent, Democrat Lisa Madigan.

A St. Clair County judge has denied state Attorney General Lisa Madigan's motion to halt state employee pay in the absence of a complete state budget.  Madigan said she will appeal the judge's ruling.

Bloomington physician David Gill has successfully sued to keep his name on the ballot in Illinois' 13th Congressional race. David Gill is running as an independent, and failed to file the number of valid signatures required by Illinois law. A federal judge says Gill must remain on the ballot, but the Illinois Attorney General is reviewing the judge's order.

The Illinois Attorney General's office says a settlement in the workplace retaliation lawsuit against Democratic U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth is final and the plaintiffs can't back out even if no paperwork
was signed. Duckworth faces GOP U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk in a November election that could influence control of the Senate.
