Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has filed a lawsuit against Peoples Gas over a natural gas leak north of Mahomet in Champaign County.

A state senator representing western Champaign County is asking the Illinois Attorney General to investigate Peoples Gas, after a natural gas leak contaminated at least five private water wells north of Mahomet.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says Peoples Gas is still working to clean up a natural gas leak in rural Champaign County.
