Sunday night June 4 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Clara Schumann’s “Violin Romances” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Enescu’s “String Octet” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by music of Manuel Ponce and others on “Fiesta”.

Messiaen (perhaps most) famous work, the "Quartet for the End of Time" was written while he was a POW during WWII, thus the strong emotional content in the sounds. Leontyne? Some (including me) think she is th egeratest female singer ever.. Decide for yourself.

If you have not ever heard Beethoven's last String Quartet, Opus 131 in C-sharp minor, you owe it to yourself to stop and listen. It is one of "those" works....sublime, magnificent, plus other superlatives...
