Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” [on FM 90.9] it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week” with a program of “English Composers from Tallis to Britten”. You’ll hear Holst’s “The Planets” and Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on Theme by Thomas Tallis”.  Also on the program Elgar’s “Cockaigne Overture”.

Herne (pronounced HAIR-nuh) is a city of over 170,000 people in the North Rhine-Westpahlia region of Germany known for it's Early Music Festival.

Preceding the Dvorak Quintet it's music by Prokofiev and Rzewski, then "Early Birds" on "Early Music Now", including Vivaldi's famous "Il Giardellino".

Also on the program, a suite by Janacek and polychoral music by Praetorius and others.
