Legislators appears no closer to a budget deal as they return to Springfield Tuesday.  Last week, former Republican Gov. Jim Edgar, who supported Gov. Bruce Rauner during his campaign, said the governor shouldn't "hold the budget hostage'' waiting for business reforms.

Illinois Republicans want to make sure Mark Kirk is re-elected to the U.S. Senate - in one of the most-watched races in the country.  But Kirk is absent from the traditional start of the campaign season--political days at the Illinois State Fair.
