How to stay safe during extreme heat

Illinois Public Media

As we enter into the hot summer months there are chances we might experience extreme heat and high humidity.

Researchers at an environmental non-profit say the number of days with dangerous humid heat is increasing in the midwest and south and that is putting people’s health at risk.

High humidity and extreme heat can lead to risks of dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke. But, there are ways to stay safe from these heat-related conditions.

Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Department of Climate, Meteorology, and Atmospheric Sciences, Joseph Trujillo Falcon, Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Climate, Meteorology, and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois Eddie Wolff and Emergency Medicine Physician from the Carle Foundation Hospital Dr. Brent Olson talk about heat safety.
