May 18, 2019: Visit Starved Rock with Environmental Almanac’s Rob Kanter
Join Environmental Almanac’s Rob Kanter on very special bus trip to Starved Rock on Saturday, May 18. We'll leave Urbana on a chartered bus in the morning and head to Starved Rock for an early afternoon guided hike. We will hike through canyons and bluffs made from St. Peter’s Sandstone. Since this is taking place in late spring, there is a good possibility the park's waterfalls will be active. Our guide, Rob Kanater, will describe to the group how Starved Rock got its name, along with other tales and truths. After the hike you will have a short time to explore the Starved Rock Lodge. Lunch and snacks are included. The guided hike is 4.5 miles round trip and is considered strenuous as there are many stairs and uneven terrain. To reserve your seat for a gift of $84, go to willpledge.org or call 1-800-898-1065.
