How College Campuses In Illinois Are Preparing Students To Work In The Cannabis Industry

Now that recreational cannabis is legal in Illinois, there’s a growing interest from the industry to find candidates qualified to work in the business. 

And there are many aspects of the cannabis industry—from indoor cultivation of cannabis plants to working with patients who are looking to medical cannabis to address health issues.

Some college campuses in Illinois are stepping up and creating programs to prepare students to be competitive for these jobs. 

To learn more about all this, we spoke with John Groninger, Acting Associate Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, and Steve Fix, faculty member at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines.
