Illini Men’s Basketball Turnaround

Illinois' Andres Feliz (10) powers past Nebraska's Charlie Easley (30) in the first half of an NCAA college basketball game Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, in Champaign, Ill. Holly Hart/AP
The last time that the University of Illinois men’s basketball team made it to the tournament was 2013.
Now they have a legitimate chance at making not just an appearance, but a solid showing.
Illinois’ win over Nebraska tied them with four other teams for the second-best record in the Big Ten conference. Penn State, Iowa, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Illinois all sit with a 10-6 conference record.
Playmakers like Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn have had a strong impact on the program, and some are optimistic the incoming recruits can spearhead a new era in Illinois basketball.
