Social Media Companies Work To Police Fake News

Twitter has announced a new feature aimed at fighting “harmfully misleading” content.

Beginning March 5, users will see blue exclamation points and the phrase “manipulated media” underneath certain videos and images.

Twitter is joining several other social media platforms in making this change to their policies in an attempt to combat the constant stream of misinformation.

This policy is coming just in time to help with the political information flow as the 2020 presidential election nears. According to NPR, more than 80% of Americans believe they will read misleading information on social media this election.
