Author Elissa Altman shares her thoughts on how to navigate political conversations at Thanksgiving.

Last week we spoke with author Elissa Altman about her memoir, “Treyf: My Life as an Unorthodox Outlaw.” We talked to her about growing up in a Jewish enclave of Queens in the 1970s and about how her memories of food are woven throughout her sometimes painful recollections of her childhood.

At the end of our conversation, we asked her if she could share her personal advice for families regarding conversations around the Thanksgiving dinner table this year. Here’s what she had to say:
