A Sustainable Community: Stelle, Illinois

Stelle, Illinois, is a small, unincorporated community in Ford County, Illinois. It only has a population of about 100 people — but this small batch of people has made a huge impact. The area places a big significance on sustainable living, through the use of solar and wind energy, and permaculture among other interests. 

We were joined by the cofounder of Midwest Permaculture — an organization within the Stelle community that helps teach sustainable living to discuss the history behind Stelle and how the community works together.
