Cairo Magnolia Celebration aims to preserve city’s history
The Magnolia Manor was built by in Cairo in 1869 and hosts the now yearly Magnolia Celebration. Cairo Historical Preservation Project Inc.
With Cairo’s history marked by both challenges and achievements, from being a stop on the Underground Railroad to violence between Black and white residents in 1969, efforts are underway to preserve the history for generations to come. Enter the Cairo Magnolia Celebration. This event started last year as a way to fundraise for historic preservation, and it continues this year on Saturday, May 6 at the Magnolia Manor in Cairo.
The 21st was joined by the event's chairperson.
