There's only been two Black women to serve in the United States Senate: Kamala Harris of California and Carol Moseley Braun of Illinois. Moseley Braun served as Senator from Illinois from 1993 to 1999. Many point to her historic election and service as helping pave the way for Kamala Harris’ nomination as Joe Biden’s Vice Presidential nominee. Moseley Braun later served as an Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa from 1999 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton. In August 2020, she represented Illinois at the Democratic National Convention for the roll call vote that nominated Joe Biden as the Presidential Nominee.

The 21st is joined by Ambassador Moseley Braun to talk more about the DNC and Harris' nomination.

Guests:

Sen. Carol Moseley Braun, Former U.S. Senator (D-Illinois, ‘93-’99); Former Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa (‘99-’01)
