According to the Quad Cities Chamber, which aims to help boost the regional economy of the area, John Deere is the top employer of the Illinois-Iowa border cities.
But since last September, the company has laid off almost 1,000 of its workers across both states. The layoffs have been a cause for concern for many.
Today, we are joined by an economics professor to understand what is happening and why.
