Encore: Picking Up A Hobby While Staying At Home

Beenish Ahmed For NPR

Even in this very dark period of COVID-19, people are finding ways to connect with loved ones, and some of us are fortunate to have a little extra time to focus on hobbies at home.

For some, a new hobby is a great way to add structure to the day, de-stress, and even explore aspects of our identity. Writer Elizabeth Segran spoke with hobby experts for her book, "The Rocket Years: How Your Twenties Launch The Rest of Your Life." She also recently wrote an article for FastCompany about how picking up a new skill or passion could help stave off feelings of anxiety around the coronavirus pandemic.
