May 26, 2020 would have been the 94th birthday of Miles Davis. The jazz icon was born in Alton, Illinois and grew up in East St. Louis. After moving to New York City, he began a five decade career that transformed music. The 21st talks with family members, a musicologist and the president of a foundation that’s turned Davis’ childhood home to a museum for fans around the world to remember the innovative musician.
