How the theremin can produce sounds with the wave of a hand

It's rare to hear the theremin in mainstream music, and it's even rarer to find one who plays the instrument. Joy Yang, a theremist, pianist, and the founder of the Interdisciplinary Institute in Urbana, joins us on the 21st today.

On the show, we'll hear about what got her into music, and what led her to choose the instruments she mastered.

We'll also listen to some live music, straight from her theremin.

Moving on, we'll delve into Yang's music taste, and learn about her album created with other artists under the name "Kuroshio," and what she thinks about Spotify and Apple Music.

We'll close out the show by hearing about what's next for her.
