Interview: Alana Banks on Historic Decatur School Board Election
In April 2021, Alana Banks was elected to the board fo the Decatur Public Schools. Normally, an election like this would be a local story, but Alana is gaining national recognition. She is believed to be the first Black transgender woman elected to school board in the United States.
The 21st spoke with her to hear more about her historic election to school board and her hopes for the district.
