It has been one year and 21 days since Gov. Pritzker ordered schools closed across Illinois in order to stop the spread of COVID-19. Many Illinois schoolchildren are still being educated at their kitchen tables.

Gov. JB Pritzker announced that $7 billion dollars of federal funds, through the American Rescue Plan Act, will be infused over three years for kindergarten through secondary education in Illinois schools. Along with the money, the Governor also announced four initiatives that he hopes will help make up for the effects of the pandemic on students, teachers and parents. The Deputy Governor of Illinois for Education joined us to talk about the money disbursement and other education related matters.
