Justice Delayed in Cook County Jail

Among the sayings and cliches about criminal justice are: “the wheels of justice turn slowly,” and “justice delayed is justice denied.” But in Cook County, there are hundreds of people who’ve been waiting three years, five years, even a decade for their cases to come to trial. What is the cost of justice being delayed indefinitely?
