According to a recent analysis done by the Chicago Tribune, more than 8 out of 10 Illinosians live in a community where brain damaging levels of lead have been found in the tap water of at least one home in the past six years. In East Moline, one home was found with 3,000 parts per billion of lead in it’s tap water. Other communities where dangerous levels of lead in tap water have been found include Rockford, Joliet, University Park, and Elgin.
