New book explores the role of corporations in political financing
It's been nearly 15 years since the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a ruling that resulted in significant changes in how American political campaigns are financed.
The case was Citizens United v. the Federal Election Commission. Fast forward to the present ... and in our last few elections corporations have given millions, if not billions, of dollars to politicians, parties, and political groups at all levels.
A new book called "CORPORATOCRACY: How to Protect Democracy from Dark Money and Corrupt Politicians," will make its debut next month. The author of the book argues that corporations taking an active role in politics in this political environment are playing with fire and she joins the 21st today.
