New law frees Illinoisans from hair discrimination
Illinois is the latest state to pass the “Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair” Act — the CROWN Act. The law prohibits discrimination based on a person’s hair texture or styles, such as locks, braids, and twists. It expands upon the previous Hawkins Act signed into law last year, which banned hair discrimination in Illinois schools.
