Politics News Roundup - June 21, 2024

It's time for our politics roundtable.

We'll start the conversation by discussing Governor J.B. Pritzker's administration's announcement about closing and rebuilding two Illinois prisons—Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill and Logan Correctional Center in Lincoln. Hundreds of people attended hearings last week about the plans for both facilities. Meanwhile, an advisory board that typically votes on plans to close large state-run facilities didn't even have enough members to hold a vote on the prison plans.

We're joined by Blair Paddock, an investigative reporter with “Chicago Tonight,” the news program on PBS station WTTW to talk about the situation.

Then, we'll talk with Linda Kenyon, who covers Washington D.C. for Illinois Public Media, about the upcoming presidential debates.
