Rebroadcast: Zen and The Transition to Spring

Reginald Hardwick/Illinois Newsroom

Editor's Note: This segment originally aired in April 2021.

Spring is officially here: the trees and flowers have started to blossom and migratory birds and geese have returned. Spring is a time of transitions. Not only does the world around us change, but it can mark an internal shift too: we leave our long, reflective winter hibernation, and emerge with an opportunity for transformation.

To talk about zen and the art of transitioning to Spring from a Japanese and Buddist cultural perspective is the director of the Japan House at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Guest:

Jennifer Misuzu Gunji-Ballsrud, Director of the Japan House at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
