Reporter Roundtable: Census Data Shows People Leaving IL

The Census Bureau released statewide population figures from last year’s Census. The topline result is that Illinois lost population in the last decade — the first time that’s happened in the state’s history. Although, the Census Bureau only released a limited set of numbers; The 21st was joined by an NPR national correspondent and an Illinois Statehouse Reporter for public media to talk about the implications of people leaving Illinois and putting those numbers in context.

Guests:

Hansi Lo Wang, NPR national correspondent reporting on the census

Amanda Vinicky, Correspondent, ‘Chicago Tonight’ and WTTW News
