Reporter Roundtable:  New Year, Same Pandemic

Reginald Hardwick/Illinois Newsroom

It’s a new year, and unfortunately, the same pandemic. At the beginning of 2021, the country hit a grim milestone: 20 million confirmed cases and 350,000 deaths due to COVID-19. However, there is some optimism with vaccines available and starting to be administered. But vaccinations have fallen way short of initial targets, with the U.S. administering only 4.6 million vaccines as of January 4, 2021 compared to a goal of 20 million doses by the end of 2020.

The 21st spoke to a reporter for Block Club Chicago and a reporter for NPR Illinois to discuss the latest on the state of COVID vaccines around Illinois, and other related news stories.

Guests:

Pascal Sabino, reporter for Block Club Chicago

Mary Hansen, reporter for NPR Illinois (Springfield)
