Research reveals surprising findings about Illinois’ climate 300 million years ago

Tullimonstrum gregarium, the "Tully Monster," is from the marine settings of the Mazon Creek fossil localities. It's the state fossil of Illinois. A recent study from the University of Missouri finds that Illinois had a tropical climate in history. Jim Schiffbauer
Believe it or not, but Illinois had a tropical climate at one point. Recently, scientists at the University of Missouri have been able to confirm that 300 million years ago, Illinois was much more tropical than it is now. They were actually able to reanalyze previous findings, going back to the 1970's.
Two of the lead authors of the study cite a website and app that allows users to see how different parts of earth looked like millions of years ago. They join the program today.
