Route 66 in Illinois: American Giants Museum keeps Americana alive

Atlanta, Illinois is the next stop on our Route 66 journey. The American Giants Museum's collection features giant statues of brand icons that were once a staple of Route 66-that served as attractions for people passing by.

But like a lot of things associated with the Mother Road, they faded into memories, both metaphorically and physically. That’s where the museum comes in. They have collected and restored these statues over the years and set up the museum as a home for travelers to check out.
