After months of legal disputes, the Safe-T Act goes into effect September 18, 2023. We were joined by State Sen. Robert Peters (D-Chicago), who was a main backer of the legislation to tell us more about why he believes this bill will make the criminal justice system more fair and equitable.
For listeners who may be unfamiliar with the Safe-T Act, it made headlines for one specific part of the bill that eliminates cash bail and leaves it up to the judge to decide who can be released or locked up.
