Small town market in southern Illinois continues to struggle in food desert

In the small town of Cairo, Illinois — about as far south as you can get in Illinois, it had become a real hassle to get fresh food. But that was all supposed to change last summer.

A local journalist investigated some of the challenges with the Rise Community Market in Cairo and found they are not unique to that community. She joins the program today to discuss the issues the grocery store has faced along with a board member of the Rise Community Market.
