Today, we will be hearing from teachers across Illinois. These stories come from a special edition of the Teacher's Lounge podcast and radio show, which is brought to us by our colleague Peter Medlin. He is the Education Reporter at Northern Public Radio based in DeKalb, Illinois.

First, Peter talked with a northern Illinois Agriculture teacher named Kara Poynter. We'll learn how she maintains her upbeat attitude all day, even after serious conversations with some students.

Next, we hear from Joseph Flynn. He is an Associate Professor of Curriculum & Instruction and the Executive Director of Equity & Inclusion at Northern Illinois University. He'll talk about how education can be used as a tool for oppression or profound personal growth.

Lastly, we'll hear from Jill Kelly. She is a Special Ed Hearing Teacher and Sign-Language Interpreter. Jill tells us about her experience.
