University of Illinois startup launches new dating app

Dating apps are more ubiquitous than ever. They gained significant popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, and with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, there’s plenty of people rushing to them to find a date. However, trying to actually land a date from the apps is a process full of contingencies, and the founders of a new dating app that launched last month on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus see that uncertainty as a problem to be solved.
To discuss their new app, Sylly, and the problems they see with the current dating apps, The 21st was joined by Sylly's co-founders.
