Illinois lawmakers back in Springfield
With the election behind us, public officials are turning back to the business of governing and legislating. Members of the Illinois House and Senate are reconvening in Springfield this week for the fall veto session. With Democrats in control of both chambers and a Democratic governor in JB Pritzker, there are not actually any vetoed bills to consider. Instead, lawmakers will be looking at a number of issues that have come up since they last met in April, including abortion rights, SAFE-T Act, and firearm control. Two statehouse journalists told us what to expect.
