Hanukkah, the eight day Jewish festival of lights, begins December 10, 2020. It is often celebrated with fried foods, which harken back to the story of oil, was able to light the menorah in the temple for eight nights. Among the most popular and highly anticipated fried foods each year is the latke. The 21st dedicated this segment to this fried potato pancake.

To speak more about the latke, The 21st was joined by a psychology professor executive chef at Split Rail in Chicago.

Guests:

Leslie M. Kay, Professor of Psychology for University of Chicago and Past Debater in the Latke-Hamantash Debate

Zoe Schor, Owner and Executive Chef of Split Rail West-Town Chicago
