Why Illinois cities are criminalizing homeless tent encampments

In June, the US Supreme Court ruled that cities can arrest or ticket people for sleeping outdoors. Meanwhile, the number of unhoused people in America hit a record high in 2023, mostly due to the lack of affordable housing.Today, we looked closer at the ruling and what it means for local communities. Recently, Springfield's city council considered ordinances to crack down on homeless encampments.
