Women Make Up Large Share of Essential Workforce

 

Workers on the front lines of the pandemic often face risks just showing up to work — whether that means caring for those who have contracted COVID-19 or ringing up groceries.

And a New York Times analysis found that one in three jobs held by women has been designated as “essential,” and women of color are more likely to be doing essential jobs than anyone else.
