With young people entering a time in which they have fewer reproductive health choices than their parents — and maybe even their grandparents — many want to fight back. And they’re reimagining the forms political engagement can take. Increasingly, social media platforms like TikTok are where this new generation of activists is organizing and building a movement — changing the way abortion networks communicate and collaborate.

The 21st spoke to two youth organizers doing that work.

Abbey Malbon
Recent UIUC graduate; Incoming graduate student at the University of Michigan, Masters in Social Work (concentrated on politics and political social work)

Myra Bajwa
Current undergrad at UChicago and board member of Project Reproductive Freedom, a campus chapter of Planned Parenthood Illinois Generation Action
