Watchdog Group Says Applicant To Buy County Nursing Home Switched Companies

UPDATE: The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board voted Tuesday to approve an application for a Certificate of Need, required by the state for the sale of the Champaign County Nursing Home to companies controlled by William "Avi" Rothner. Champaign County Health Care Consumers executive director Claudia Lennhoff, who spoke at the meeting against the sale, said the Review Board approved the application without asking wuestions.

A Conversation with Dan Caulkins, Republican Candidate For The 101st Illinois House District

Decatur businessman Dan Caulkins is running for state representative in the 101st Illinois House District, which covers parts of Champaign, DeWitt, Macon, McLean and Piatt counties. He’s running against Decatur resident and political newcomer Jen McMillin. The winner of that race will succeed incumbent Republican Bill Mitchell, who is retiring.

Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting Victims Identified

At a press conference Sunday morning, officials said victims of a shooting rampage at a Pittsburgh synagogue range in age from 54 to 97. All but two of the victims were over the age of 65, and include one married couple, and two brothers. Six others were wounded, including four police officers.
