This week for The Atomic Age Cocktail Party, it's a special listener-suggested program. This show is called Atomic Boptails; a look at be-bop throughout the hi-fi era. Be-bop music was the natural evolution from swing and became the musical fuel for the Beat Generation. It was seen as a little wild…a little dangerous…and a little subversive. The music had fast rhythms (where you get the bop name) as well as frantic solos, and a language all its own. We’ll hear from Dizzy Gillespie, Gene Krupa, Cannonball Adderley, and many more.
