The Brazilian pianist Guiomar Novaes enjoyed great fame from the First World War to the 1970s. After her 1915 New York debut, a critic hailed her as "the Paderewska of the Pampas." Her specialty was the music of the Romantic Era, and above all, the music of Chopin. On Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will hear her play music of Mozart, and parts of Chopin's Second Piano Concerto.
