Since the time of Mozart, pianists and others have delighted in working popular operatic arias into their repertories. Sometimes this results in sets of variations, and sometimes this results in what Liszt called "concert paraphrases." Whatever it is called, the result is usually a delightful combination of pop opera hits and dazzling displays of piano virtuosity. On this week's Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, you will hear a sample of musical desserts.
